I was just driving into my carpark which is situated at the ground floor of 5 storey apartment, when I heard an explosion right behind me. My 2 year old daughter started screaming. She is terrfied of fire crackers and she started to shiver because it exploded right behind us.
My hubby got off the car and yelled out some sort of threat, telling the people to stop. Some of our other neighbours came out and asked what is the problem as none of them were playing crackers. He told them that he is talking to the particular resident who has allowed the children to play with crackers. We thought that the children were left unattended and have taken the liberty to play the crackers in the absense of parents.
We got back into the car ready to move out because both my son and daughter were screaming in extreme fear. And again the explosion went off. All this happening few cm away from my car. That was the last straw for me.
Rolled up my sleeve and went out and I never knew I had a thunderous voice because it was booming at the entire apartment. The neighbours were trying to figure out who was the irresponsible person. I yelled at them to stop and telling them that how dare they throw crackers at the very road that car and people move around. I said I am going to call the police. That is when the father came out, the epitome of calmness, asking me cooly what is wrong as if he was in different world. I asked him if those crackers fell on my kids would he pay for it. ' Sorry lah' he said completely missing the gravity of the situation. I asked if the situation were reversed would he be so cool knowing the danger that his children has been subjected too? He was just trying to get back into his house.
I was shocked that first people actually allow their children to throw crackers on people/car and second just pretend to be not there/hiding in the house knowing that their children has done something wrong.
If this is the parenting style, the world has no more hope for future civilised generation
